Revisiting the 1920s
The so-called ‘Roaring Twenties’ were the years of hope and innovation after the devastation and despair of the First World War. It was a time of rapid economic growth. In art, literature and the flourishing film industry it was a period of experiment. The fabric of society was changing and especially women were experiencing a liberation from age-old social restrictions. In this course we explore these fascinating years and study the mood of this Jazz Age in the worlds of literature, film and art. Many innovations of this epoch have an influence on our lives today.
